Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 pound gnocchi
  • 5 ounces chorizo
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 cup cream
  • 1 red bell pepper (grilled)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Place the bell pepper in the oven at 350°F for 15 minutes. Remove skin and cut into strips.
  2. Cook the gnocchi in boiling water and when they rise to the surface, drain and set aside.
  3. Cut the onion and chorizo into small pieces.
  4. Fry the chorizo in the pan until it begins to sweat, then add the onions and bell pepper. Leave to cook for about ten minutes.
  5. Add the cream and gnocchi, then stir. Salt and pepper to taste and It's ready. Enjoy your meal!

Notes

Roast the bell pepper: Instead of simply placing the bell pepper in the oven, consider roasting it for a more intense flavor. Rub the pepper with olive oil, sprinkle it with salt and pepper, and roast at 425°F for about 20-25 minutes until the skin is charred. This will add a smoky flavor and make it easier to remove the skin.

Flavor the gnocchi: While cooking the gnocchi in boiling water is fine, you can elevate the flavor by adding some herbs or spices to the water. For example, you could infuse the water with a few sprigs of fresh thyme or rosemary, or add a teaspoon of garlic powder or dried Italian herbs to the water before boiling. This will give the gnocchi an extra layer of taste.

Sauté the onions and chorizo separately: Instead of frying the chorizo and onions together, consider sautéing them separately. Start by frying the chorizo until it releases its oils and becomes slightly crispy. Remove the chorizo from the pan and set it aside. Then, in the same pan, sauté the onions until they become translucent and slightly caramelized. This will help to enhance the individual flavors of the ingredients.
