Smashed Kefta Tacos

Description

Spicy kefta balls, grilled to perfection, topped with an explosion of flavors: a lemony yogurt sauce and a touch of fresh mint. If you love kefta and tacos, you'll love this incredibly tasty recipe!


Ingredients

6-8 tortillas

For the Kefta

1,5 pound ground meat (beef or lamb)

1 onion (minced)

2 cloves garlic (minced)

1 tablespoon paprika

1 tablespoon Provencal herbs

1 drizzle olive oil

1 handful fresh mint (finely chopped)

1 handful dill (finely chopped)

1 egg

salt and pepper to taste

For the topping 

1/2 block Feta cheese

15-20 cherry tomatoes

A little salad

4 ounces yoghurt

Juice of 1/2 lemon

1/2 red onion (minced)

A few mint leaves

Salt and pepper to taste


Instructions

  1. If you wish to roast your cherry tomatoes, cook them with a drizzle of olive oil and a pinch of salt at 350°F for 20 minutes.
  2. For the Kefta, mix all ingredients until well incorporated into the meat. 
  3. Form the Kefta mixture into balls. Then flatten the balls onto the tortillas.
  4. In a very hot frying pan with a drizzle of olive oil, cook the tortillas on the meat side for about 2 minutes. Then turn over and add a little feta cheese on top and set aside.
  5. Add the cherry tomatoes, yoghurt sauce (mix yoghurt, lemon juice and a pinch of salt), lettuce, onion and fresh mint. It’s ready, enjoy your meal!

Notes

Use parchment paper to flatten the tortillas so that the Kefta mixture doesn't stick to your fingers. To do this, place the paper over the ball and flatten by applying pressure to the ball through the paper.
